Buy Books from Charlotte at Bookshop.org
Then Read Them
“Wear the old coat and buy the new book.”
Stories help us feel less alone. Poems give us language for ideas, emotions, and experiences that are hard for us to put words around on our own. Fiction invites us into new worlds. Nonfiction helps us learn how to build things or make things or survive things. Memoirs give us opportunities to say, “Me too!” Creative nonfiction shows us why we don’t have to make stuff up. Books about spiritual formation guide and accompany us in our faith and doubt.
The quote above by Austin Phelps pretty much describes my approach toward life. Books are my non-guilty pleasure. If given the choice, I’ll wear my old coat and use that money to buy a whole bunch of new books.
My Bookshop.org shop features books for people who are aware of the power of stories and reading. My Bookshop.org Book Lists have books about the writing life, creativity, spiritual formation, how art intersects with faith, and more. And, buying from Bookshop supports writers and independent bookstores.
