Brother Bryan Mission Craft Sale

by riley

Whoa…. we’ve been preparing for SUCH a long time and I only was there for about 30 minutes. We just had a craft sale to benefit Brother Bryan Mission (remember that?). We’ve been making seed bombs, head bands, bookmarks, keychains and notecards for nearly two months! Today was the sale, and I was glad to see that the headbands and keychains were nearly sold out, and the donation jars were full. Not that I blame the people for filling them… The cookies and brownies were decadent. :-9 We also made a bottle cap version of Starry Night, by Van Gogh. I think nobody bought it, but I wasn’t there for the whole thing. I hope Brother Bryan gets their new building soon.

This Weekend

by riley

My friend had a birthday party on Sunday, and let me tell you, it was AWESOME!!! We had confetti cake, and then played in her backyard. She has this really cool swing that is tied to this really high tree branch. It’s actually possible to swing off the house! I haven’t gotten to the fun part yet. we went to the ice skating rink and, for the first lap or so, I had to hold on to the railing. Now, I can skate fairly well. Now, I’m sore from all my falls. I hope to go skating some time in the future. I like it, but I’m not the kind to do a triple Lutz. If I were to do it, then I’d be a triple KLUTZ!

Today, My teacher had a friend that traveled to Africa, actually Uganda, come to our class. She told about staying there, and that there’s no privacy, and how women and children have to work, along with men. She also worked in the school, and she was amaze at how eager the kids were to learn. The kids begged to go to school, because, just some of them just wanted to be the first in their family to learn to read. Also, she worked with a widow’s organization, that, since the man who died’s families took the house, money, crops, and cows of the woman, they help them get their stuff back. they also make paper beads,  made out of rolled strips of magazine paper and Mod Podge. She gave each of us two or three paper bead necklaces for free which is way super generous because they are pretty expensive when you buy them.

I have a mini Mad Libs for you…. A Mad Libs is when you fill in all of the parts of speech you need, and then you read the story with it. The finished story is hilarious, unless you peek and your words make sense. Here’s one for you! You may want to print this, so you can fill it out with a pencil or pen.

SHOPPING

I went shopping at the                       yesterday. It was really                  ! I                    on the escalator and into my favorite                 at the mall. It’s very                   looking. There are                        , shoes, and handbags. Then, I went to the very                      skateboard shop. I bought a                    with                    painted on it. I rode it all the way to the ice cream shop, where I dumped my shopping bags and relaxed with a                         sundae!

It’s Only a Few More Weeks Till Spring Break!!!

by riley

Only a few more weeks until spring  break!!! I can hardly WAIT! By then, I’ll be prepared with allergy pills. I am sitting inside, not feeling my best right now. :-(  I think I may go to my grandparent’s house for a few days, and then maybe just lie around doing nothing the other days. I’m just kidding about the lying around at home part. I’ll see friends, eat fro-yo at TCBY, my favorite frozen yogurt place, if my mom lets me. (she’s fasting from desserts for Lent.) I will practically have the time of my life. Sure, I might lie around a few days, but I like to actually do stuff. I gotta go!

It’s Been SO LONG!

by riley

I can’t believe how long it’s been since I blogged…. I think it’s been so long because I didn’t have time… Anyways, I have had the best time in the world!!

On Sunday, I had my friend over, and we decorated cupcakes together. They were Devil’s Food, my favorite kind! We also made a pillow pile and jumped on it from my bed. I came up with the (brilliant!! :-) ) idea to make a fort with quilts and cushions from an upstairs couch. I cannot WAIT until we get together again… We always have a BLAST!!!!!!!!! Maybe, just MAYBE I used too many caps and exclamation points….

I am also getting a crafting with leather kit, and I have seen others, so I know for sure and absolute positive that I will really love. there is a coaster, key fob, coin purse, and ID wallet, which for some reason Brady is really fond of, but anyway, it’s real leather, where you can hammer designs into it. You take little metal pieces, which have designs on one end. you press that end to the leather, and hammer it with a wooden mallet. I can’t wait!!

Oh, and I almost forgot, I am going to a kid’s retreat with our church this weekend, called “snow day.” I don’t know, but if any of you live in Alabama like me, then you know that it has started warming up, and it’s 99.99 percent certain that there won’t be ANY snow. I’m still SUPER EXCITED!!

Do you think my posts are TOO random?

IT’S VALENTINES DAY!!!!!

by riley

Hello!!!!!! I have probably had THE BEST V-day ever!!!!!!! I have already had candy overload and it’s only 2:00!!!!! I got a box of chocolates, a sketch book, and a bag from my mom and dad, and also one from my grandparents. The valentines from my class were really good too. A whole bag of yummy deliciousness from Lucy, a disco ball key chain from Reagan, a bag of cake balls from Caroline, a bookmark from Selah, a York mint from Ann Clayton, and a bag of chocolate from all of the teachers.

The Poetry Party went GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I recited “Today is Very Boring” by Jack Prelutsky, and “The Joys of Motherhood” By Donna Davis. I hope I didn’t leave out a part but didn’t notice it…..

Anyway, my V-day was great!!!!!

I Love, Love, LOVE Mardi Gras!!!!!!

by riley

I spent the weekend in New Orleans, and I tell you, it was AWESOMENESS!!!! I went to 5 parades, and ended up with truckloads of beads and other stuff. It was AMAZING!!!

The best part, though, was seeing family. Imagine if all the Donlons, from Ireland AND here were to bunch up in that house?!? I’m so glad only some of my cousins made it!! I also stayed up until Midnight on every day, and got to sleep in SUPERlate. On one night, I stayed up past midnight and played Bookworm Adventures with my cousin, and the other night was just late because of a parade.

OK, that’s it…………

FOR NOW!!!!!!!!

hint, hint: Valentines’ Day!!!!

A Cool School Guest!!

by riley

Today at school, for lunch, we had G.W; a nurse from St. Vincent’s Hospital, come to our class. He is also a part of Brother Bryan Mission, a local homeless shelter and ministry. He is so cool!! he told us what it was like to be a nurse, and he gave us some of those little doctor hat thingy s. Some of us even got latex rubber gloves and shoe covers. It was beyond awesome!! I am actually considering being a nurse, instead of an artist. For those who know me, I am talking like a crazy person!! I LOVE art!! anywho, we had a SUPER awesome school guest! plus, this may be the shortest blog post in HISTORY!!

I’M GOING TO NEW ORLEANS!!

by riley

YAAAAAHHHHOOOOOOOO!!!!!

(that was me being super excited about my trip to New Orleans this weekend!!)

YAAAAHHHHHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I am going there for Mardi Gras, which is a holiday that is probably qualifying as one of my top ten most favorite holidays. anyway, I am soooo super excited! I love all the cute little beads and stuffed animals they throw out of those humongous floats! I am also excited because I love the french quarter… even if I don’t get anything.

My grandparents are also supernice, and Mimi makes AWESOME french toast, jambalaya, gumbo, and other delicious New Orleans foods.

this time, it’ll be super special because my cousins will be there too, but the house will be crammed and I hate having to share a bedroom. some of us will probably have to eat dinner separately, and we will fight to get on the computer, but anywho, be expecting a post from me! It’s so awesome being in New Orleans, and I am so excited!! :-)
